Message for 1st PUA International Urological Summit from the Overall Chairman
Dear PUA member,
Greetings and salutations!
The Philippine Urological Association proudly welcomes you to the first ever PUA International Urological Summit 2025. This convention is aptly entitled Breaking barriers in prostate health: Pioneering technologies for benign and malignant diseases, as this is a truly groundbreaking event. This is the first middle-of-the-year PUA scientific endeavor that will be held outside of the Philippines’ native shores.
Join us as we delve into the scientific program that has been steeped with knowledge by renowned urologist colleagues who hail from the wonderful region of Hong Kong, and of course, our equally respected home-grown experts. We can take advantage of another opportunity to sharpen our skills and challenge our knowledge as we participate in live surgeries and hands-on workshops that focus on Rezum, holmium laser enucleation of the prostate and many more. Of course, there will be ample opportunity to engage in research, social activities and networking.
Looking back, this First International Urological Summit started out as a mere audacious concept. To nobody’s surprise, the path to the summit was littered with intimidating and oftentimes seemingly-insurmountable obstacles. These challenges notwithstanding, in large part due to the unwavering support and herculean efforts of some very special people, it has now become a reality. It is therefore with great humility and deep gratitude that I offer my thanks in particular to PUA President 2025 Dr. Juvido Agatep Jr., immediate PUA past-president Dr. Dodge Limjoco, and the rest of the PUA executive council members for their leaps of faith. This event would not have been possible without the brilliance of Dr. Christine Joy Castillo, the scientific chairwoman, and the creativity of Dr. Michael Alfred Tan, the head of the socials committee. Once again, I am indebted to the PUA secretariat who have tirelessly devoted countless hours and energy to producing a convention that we can all be proud of. Lastly, I recognize the invaluable support given by our industry partners, who have been steadfast in believing in the aspirations of our beloved society.
To date, organizing this urological summit has truly been one of the most challenging tasks I have undertaken for the PUA. It is my fervent hope that it serves as a reminder of how rewarding it can be to sometimes step away from the status quo. I am confident that it will serve to further EMPOWER the PUA as we take another step in realizing our vision of being an internationally-recognized and truly world class urological society.

This summit is not only a significant milestone in our professional journey but also a dream come true. For many years, our midyear conventions have been cherished as a family affair—where we unite as colleagues and friends, and share in the joy of learning and growth. This year, we are thrilled to invite you to enjoy this activity alongside your families, making it an unforgettable experience for all.
Our scientific session will delve into groundbreaking technologies and techniques that are revolutionizing the field of urology. A special note of gratitude and congratulations is due to Dr. Patrick Tuliao- EC Overall Chair and Dra. Christine Joy Castillo- Scientific Chair, whose unwavering dedication and hard work have been crucial in overcoming numerous hurdles to bring this event to life. Their relentless efforts in curating an excellent scientific program, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Urological Association, have resulted in a summit that promises to be both intellectually enriching and inspiring.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our secretariat, whose tireless work behind the scenes has ensured the smooth planning and execution of this event.
Our deepest appreciation goes to our pharmaceutical partners, whose unwavering support has made this event possible.
